Spirit of Children
Spirit of Children brings fun and funding to local hospitals at Halloween and all year round. Their mission is to make hospitals less scary for kids and their families through support of the Child Life Department at partner hospitals in our local communities. Since 2007, Spirit of Children has raised $37 million to provide Child Life funding for art, music, aquatic and pet therapy programs, as well as the purchase of educational items, and toys used for distraction during medical procedures and much more. One hundred percent of every dollar donated supports the Child Life Department in our 140 partner hospitals across the United States and Canada.
The San Angelo store is located at 4238 Sunset Blvd., and funds raised at the store will go directly to Shannon Medical Center. Spirit Halloween shoppers who make at least a $2 donation will receive a branded Spirit of Children bracelet with the hashtag #SpiritofChildren for families to not only wear while trick-or-treating, but also to use to upload Halloween photos showing their support for the program.
Cookies & Milk with Santa
Santa is making a special appearance at Shannon Women's & Children's Hospital on Saturday, December 14, to enjoy cookies and milk.
Cookies & Milk with Santa is an annual event hosted by CMN volunteers that gives area families a unique opportunity to spend some time with Santa and receive a special souvenir photo while feasting on delicious cookies and milk.
Tickets will be available starting November 14.
The event will be Saturday, December 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents can reserve a specific time when purchasing tickets for their children. Tickets are $15 per child (includes cookies, milk and digital photo) and can be purchased from the CMN office by calling 325.481.6160.
"Members of the community and employees of our hospital look forward to Cookies & Milk all year long," said Tammy Van Stockum, a CMN volunteer who has helped coordinate this event for several years. "We have had a great response and we hope to put a little more Christmas cheer into the holidays for children of all ages within the community."
Funds generated during the event will serve the 16,000 children treated annually at Shannon. Like all CMNH fundraisers, 100 percent of funds raised help create miracles by funding needed medical equipment, training and therapy programs for children treated at Shannon Medical Center.
